Reach Truck Structure
A reach truck can generally be categorized as a powered industrial truck. Reach trucks have a sliding reach mast with a rigid fork or a rigid mast with a fork that can be tilted. To pick up or drop off load carriers, the mast is pushed forward via rollers in the wheel arms of the reach truck. After picking up the load carrier, the mast is retracted to rest inside the wheel arms. In most cases, the person driving these vehicles sits transversely to the direction of travel. The drive axle of the reach truck is on the side facing away from the load so that the center of gravity of the reach truck is inside the wheelbase. This allows the truck to be very short, as no counterweight is needed to ensure stability. This means that a significant gain in space can be achieved.
