The Autonomous Solution to the Classic Forklift Truck

An autonomous forklift truck is equipped with a fork to pick up and transport pallets or other loads autonomously. Autonomous forklift trucks are used in intralogistics systems as flexible work equipment in countless places, combining horizontal unit load transportation with stacking work. A special feature of autonomous forklift trucks is that they can be used both indoors and outdoors. Autonomous forklift trucks pick up and lift the load unsupported, outside their wheel base, with forks attached to the front of a mast. As the mast with the load is positioned in front of the forklift's front wheels, forklift trucks are fitted with a counterweight at the rear end of the vehicle. This is necessary in order to achieve the highest possible payload. This is to prevent the forklift truck from tipping over when braking and the drive wheels from being overloaded. Autonomous forklift trucks have rigid, unsteered wheels on the front side facing the mast and steering on the rear side, either as a single wheel or as an axle with two steered wheels. The lifting heights are between 2 m and 8 m, depending on the design of the mast (single, double or triple mast).
