The ABC Analysis for Reducing Avoidable Distances

The ABC analysis describes the classification or grouping of all articles in terms of their frequency of access. Based on the classification, the articles can be divided into three zones (ABC). The aim is to identify articles with a high access frequency, so-called "fast moving articles" (A-articles), and to place them as close as possible to the picking base. This eliminates the need to drive or walk long distances to pick articles. "Medium movers" (B-articles) and "slow movers" (C-articles) are stored further away from the base station.
