Assembly of Flow Racks
The special feature of flow racking is that the load carriers can only be loaded from one side of the rack. Similarly, retrieval is only possible from the other side of the rack. Items that are stored first must also be removed from this side of the rack first. As a result, flow racks are particularly well suited to ensuring the FIFO principle (First In First Out). Typically, flow racks are arranged in blocks, with several channels side by side and on top of each other. Since only one load carrier can be accessed in a channel at a time, the channels of a flow rack are usually loaded in pure fraction. In order picking, replenishment, and retrieval can be separated from each other due to the different storage and retrieval positions. This reduces congestion and ensures constant replenishment.
