Job Rotation, a Solution for more Ergonomic Workplace Design
With job rotation, employees change their workstations on a weekly, daily, or hourly basis, and thus change the tasks they perform (e.g. change between picking and goods issuing). Depending on the process design, employees are exposed to different levels of stress when performing their tasks. The principle of job rotation aims to reduce physical stress. This can help prevent stress-related illnesses such as musculoskeletal disorders. By avoiding one-sided stress and monotony, the employees' performance and work capacity is maintained and signs of fatigue are reduced. Furthermore, job rotation also increases the flexibility of the company's workforce. Employees can be trained and qualified in different areas of the company.
