Determine time required for lifting movements
The time required for lifting movements can be quantified in various ways.

Motion-Mining®
In Motion-Mining® projects, the fork of a forklift truck can be fitted with a special sensor. This makes it possible to determine how much time employees spend waiting for the forklift to lift.

Process Observation and Time Recording
For process monitoring, the time it takes the fork to rise and fall can be recorded using a stopwatch or app.

WMS Data Analysis
In the rack storage area, the time for the lift movement can be approximated using the WMS picker. To do this, the picking or putaway location with the corresponding level in the rack must be maintained in the system. It is then possible to determine how often a level is stored or retrieved per day. The fork is then raised to that level and lowered again. The time can then be calculated from the height of the level (in m) and the lift speed of the truck (see Hesteller or MTM).

Determination of the savings potential
It is necessary to determine how much of the stroke time can be saved. This depends on the solution chosen.

RoI calculation
To calculate the ROI, the frequency must be multiplied by the difference between actual and target time and then scaled to the total number of employees and working days. This is set against the cost of the measure.
