1
Determine Duration of Individual Handling
Every time an aid is put down and picked up again, it causes additional effort. The first step should be determining what effort is caused by each occurrence of this activity.
A
MTM Modelling
Values for picking up and putting down different aids in different situations are given in the MTM lists.
B
Process Observation and Timing
In a process observation, the duration can be recorded with the help of a stopwatch or a corresponding app.
2
Determine the Frequency of an Activity
Each time a tool is put down and picked up again, it causes additional work. The second step should be to determine how often the activity occurs.
A
WMS-Analysis
Information technology usually has to be set aside for each picking position as well as for certain activities. The picking lists can be used to estimate how many items are picked per day on average. Therefore it can be used to determine, how often the technology has to be set aside.
B
Process Observation and Timing
In a process observation, the frequency can be recorded with the help of a tally sheet or a corresponding app.
3
RoI Calculation
The RoI is calculated by the total expenditure for unnecessary picking up and putting down of information technology per day. This is compared to the additional efforts of a new technology, if there is one.
