1. Briefly describe your company and product.
WDX GmbH is a leading supplier of warehouse and intralogistics solutions with more than 30 years of experience. We develop, produce and implement customized solutions ranging from warehouse racking systems and conveyor technology to automated truck loading and unloading.
We have recently expanded our portfolio to include Versabox autonomous mobile robots (AMR). These robots are flexible, intelligent and specifically designed to automate material flows, such as pallet transport. They are a forward-looking solution for companies looking to make their warehouses more efficient and cost-effective.
2. What problem do you solve?
The logistics industry faces two major challenges: a shortage of skilled workers and increasing demands for speed and accuracy. With our broad product portfolio, we improve overall warehouse processes, maximize storage capacity, optimize space utilization, and automate material flow.
We help companies reduce operating costs, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve productivity and competitiveness. A particular advantage for our customers is that our products are manufactured in Europe, not in the Far East. This enables close cooperation, faster delivery times and optimal adaptation to the needs of our customers.
3. What are your USPs?
Our comprehensive product portfolio combines racking systems, conveyor systems, software solutions and robotics under one roof. We offer not only individual products, but also complete solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of our customers using state-of-the-art technologies.
Our expertise in the area of AMR is particularly noteworthy. For qualified projects, we offer initial layout design and simulation of AMR systems as a service. This gives our customers an early opportunity to see how our solutions can actually work in their warehouse environment. Another advantage is our proximity to the customer. Each project is developed in close cooperation with the customer, so that we not only meet current requirements, but also keep an eye on future developments.
4. Provide a specific application example or success story that illustrates how your solution works in practice.
We recently installed an automated pallet shuttle warehouse with approximately 7600 pallet locations for one of our customers.
The finished snack pallets are transported 24/7 from the production line directly into our automated warehouse via a 100 m long conveyor line. The material flow computer uses the pallet parameters to determine the optimal storage channel and coordinates the fully automated storage via pallet lift, carrier and shuttle.
Based on the transmitted orders, the required pallets are retrieved and pre-buffered on 9 dedicated staging lanes. The system operates on the FEFO (First Expired - First Out) principle, preventing products from becoming obsolete on the shelves.
With our Q-Block pallet shuttle, we guarantee maximum space utilization and create enormous additional capacity to handle order peaks.
5. What future developments or trends do you see in the logistics industry, and how are you preparing for them as a company?
The logistics industry is evolving at a rapid pace, and a number of trends are emerging. Automation and digitalization will continue to grow in importance. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, and data-driven process optimization will form the basis for the logistics of the future.
As in the automotive industry, the software landscape of a supplier is increasingly becoming a decision criterion for customers in the intralogistics sector. WDX has already developed its own powerful simulation and control software for AMRs. We are currently extending this software to our automated storage systems.
